Why Reflexology?

Holistic

As a holistic and natural therapy, reflexology is based on recognised theory that points in our feet and hands correspond to the body’s systems, organs and structures. Stimulation of a point may lead to a response in the corresponding area (a reflex), with the aim of restoring balance and wellbeing through our body’s innate healing.

Rebalance

When our bodies are under stress, our energies are directed towards that stress. This compromises our ability to function optimally. By treating the body as a whole, and addressing both physical and non-physical factors, reflexology can help the body to rebalance, build resilience and optimise health.

Wellbeing

Testimony shows that you may experience any of the following:

•reduced tension
•an improved mood
•better sleep
•relaxation
•an enhanced sense of wellbeing

Responses will be personal to the individual.

Health

Reflexology can be experienced alongside standard healthcare, to help achieve your optimal health.

As a complementary therapy, the AoR advise that reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

About Me

I trained as a reflexologist in 2020 at the affiliated Maureen Burgess School of Reflexology. Fully qualified, with a Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology, I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

I have always enjoyed working with people. I began my career working for ten years as a physiotherapist within the NHS. More recently I have worked in schools, supporting children with special educational needs.  My vocations have always emphasised the importance of a holistic approach to care, within a kind and supportive environment

As a member of the AoR, I am committed to continuing professional development. I abide by their Code of Practice and am fully insured through them.

My aim with at one reflexology is to offer an empathetic and client-centred environment. We will work together, to help you rebalance, relax and improve your wellbeing. I look forward to working with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will I be asked during the client consultation?

I will ask you about your current and past medical history and if you are taking any prescribed or natural medications/supplements. I will enquire more generally about your daily life, enabling me to build a holistic picture with the main focus being what you hope to gain from your at one reflexology session. All information will remain strictly confidential.

Are there any conditions that preclude reflexology treatment?

The Association of Reflexologists recommends that you do not seek reflexology treatment if you are suffering from:

  •  A history of Deep Vein Thrombosis
  • Cellulitis
  • Contagious diseases e.g., Covid  19, Measles, Athlete’s foot
  • Injury or bruising to the area of treatment

If you are pregnant or in any doubt if you can benefit from a reflexology treatment, please contact me.

What should I wear?

Please come dressed comfortably. I need to touch your feet, ankles and lower leg, so clothing that will enable this with ease is best for you.

Does reflexology feel uncomfortable?

Reflexology is a relaxing treatment based on the application of pressure to specific points/areas of the foot. There may be sensitivity felt by you in a region that is out of balance, this area will be reworked with the aim of rebalancing and reducing any sensitivity experienced. There is also the option of hand reflexology if you are not comfortable with reflexology of your feet. Clients who have been concerned about their “tickly feet” have enjoyed the treatment session and found that the pressure applied during reflexology does not tickle.

Testimonials

"My first experience of reflexology was a delight. Sarah was so professional and displayed a wonderful caring attitude. I was left with a feeling of real calm and sense of wellbeing, so much so that I drifted off to sleep at one point."

Simon

"I did not know what to expect but right from the beginning Sarah’s calm, gentle demeanour reassured and relaxed me. The experience gave me more than I had hoped for. I was left with a feeling of wellbeing and positivity which I carried over into my daily life.Thank you."

Lynne

"I’m new to reflexology. I was really surprised by how precise the treatment was, especially the focus on my neck problem that has caused vertigo in the past. Sarah explained why my feet responded as they did. I am now addressing those long-standing postural issues."

Kate

“I was lucky to be one of Sarah’s case studies. Being a woman of a certain age, I’m now experiencing all sorts of aches and pains, leading to anxiety, stress and worry. After treatment, everything feels better both physically and mentally.”

Christine
